There is an area along the Yakima River called Horn Rapids where the river takes a wide turn almost back the way it came. There are dirt roads leading down to the river where many a fisherman finds solace; and kayakers let their crafts in and out along the waters' edges. We enjoy going out that way to paint when it's not too hot, as it is quite exposed. It was especially colorful this afternoon as the sage brush was climbing out of it's slumber, gathering color, and shrub oaks along the water were turning a fiery red. It was an idyllic afternoon.
